Android founder Andy Rubin is leaving Google – Tweakers

Andy Rubin, the co-founder of Android, Google has left. He goes his time stabbing in a incubator for startup companies engaged in the design of robots. At Google, Rubin worked for some time in robot technology.

 google Google has confirmed the departure of Rubin, after The Wall Street Journal reported on there. Rubin was the co-founder of the company Android, which was acquired by Google in 2005. In the eight years that followed, in which Android became the market leader in mobile operating systems, Rubin remained at the helm of the Android division of Google.

Last year, Rubin exchanged that position for leadership of the new robot division of Google. When Rubin led the department, took that including Boston Dynamics, which developed include robots for the US military. Multiple robot companies, The role of Rubin in the robotic division of Google is taken over by James Kuffner, a researcher in that department.

It is not entirely clear why Rubin leaves. According to a usually well-informed US tech journalist, Jessica Lessin, Rubin found that his department operated robot not independent enough from Google at Google. That would explain why he’s now set up incubator , a kind of breeding ground for start-ups in the field of robot technology. An Rubin says he simply wanted to do something new. According to analyst firm IDC Rubin is possible, however, forced left.

It is not the only change in the top at Google. Last week, Google CEO Larry Page announced yet a large part of its duties over to Sunder Pichai, who has presided over Android and Chrome. Doing so would be allowed to focus more on the bigger picture and he would charge about Google X and Nest hold.
