Microsoft’s mobile ambitions come a bit closer to reality, now the market share of Windows Phone is growing faster than that of Android. The operating system is now third with 5.6 percent of all smartphones sold in the first quarter of this year.
We must keep an eye on the mobile operating system that was already depreciated by some. According to figures from Kantar Worldpanel Comtech Windows Phone is on the rise, with growth rates even just rise above that of Android.
Windows Phone grew in the first quarter by 3.7 percent, to a total share of 5.6 percent. Android is a comfortable lead at 49.3 percent, but grew only 1.4 percent. Apple’s iOS will see the share bags of 44.6 to 43.7 percent, while BlackBerry still holds only 0.9 percent after 2.6 percent loss. Nokia with Windows Phone is growing along with a share grew from 1 to 4 percent in the first quarter. Kantar looking for the cause at first buyers who just would feel more attracted to Windows Phone and Nokia, than iOS or Android.
