The European market share of Android is 6 percentage points higher than a year earlier, reports research firm Kantar Wednesday. The figures were in march, april and may measurements carried out in the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Spain and Italy.
Kantar began over four years ago with the publishing of smartphonemarktaandelen. In that period Android has never been so popular, all the operating system in the autumn of 2014, just before the launch of the iPhone 6, in the neighbourhood.
The iPhone from Apple has now a market share of 18.3 percent, slightly less than a year earlier. The growth of Android is mainly due to the shrinkage of the Windows Phone and other operating systems for example BlackBerry.
Huawei
Also outside of Europe are Android phones popular. In China, almost four of every five sold smartphones an Android device, and in the United States is the market share of Android on to 68.5 percent.
In the five largest countries of Europe are Samsung and Apple the most popular telefoonmakers. Huawei takes the third place with 12.5 percent of all sold smartphones. A year earlier this was still 7.4%. Especially Samsung seems to suffer from the rise of the Chinese competitor.
