Cronologics, a company that keeps itself busy with the development of an own operating system and smartwatch, has announced that it is acquired by Google.

The company Cronologics in 2014 founded by, amongst other things, a number of former Google employees. The company has an operating system developed, based on Lollipop, and also a smartwatch on the market, the CoWatch. The most striking features of this smartwatch is the collaboration with the digital assistant of Amazon, Alexa. This assistant, we know of Amazon Echo, a smart speaker where you using voice commands all kinds of commands that you can give or questions to ask.
The CoWatch, who works with contacts stored and iPhones, has all the options that a smartwatch should expect: a 400×400 Super AMOLED screen, 1GB of ram and 8GB storage memory, Bluetooth, Wi-fi, and a heart rate monitor. Also, there are several bands and performances.
Android Wear 2.0
Android Wear is a mobile operating system for smartwatch and wearables. Android Wear 2.0 is, according to Google, the biggest update for the wearableplatform ever and would already be available. The release of the major update, however, Google delayed to early 2017. Meanwhile, Huawei and LG indicated this year, not with a smartwatch, and Lenovo, responsible for the popular Moto 360-a series, it stops there even tentative at all. Also Androidworldlezers are still not convinced of the usefulness of wearables.
However, Google on the Android Wear in the spotlight. For example, they have recently had the Magic Minute Project for anyone opened to us the meaning of time to understand. Also the acquisition of Cronologics indicates that Google bet on the future of wearables with Android Wear.
Cronologic gives in to Google, to help “the portfolio of Android Wear smartwatch to let it grow’. This year We have had several rumors about its own smartwatch from Google that in the first quarter of 2017 on the market should appear, presumably at the launch of Android Wear 2.0. What the role is for Cronologic is not clear.
End for CoWatch
What the acquisition means for the operating system and the CoWatch of Cronologics, is not known, but it seems almost certain that these developments will be discontinued. Also the amount that Google has laid down for the acquisition is unknown.
