Every year test our editors hundreds of new apps. In this last week of the year, we put our favorite apps of 2016 at a glance. Today is Wouter’s turn.
Let’s be honest: it was pretty hard to my favorite apps for the year 2016 to select. On the one hand, because I have a lot of apps to test and usually only use the default apps on my smartphone, on the other hand, because there in 2016 simply not as many cool apps have appeared. In the list below you will find two new apps, and an older one which I this year only have been discovered.
Hearthstone
Card game Hearthstone was already in 2014 for Android released, but I only really discovered. There are also quite some hours in the game put in fact, Hearthstone is the game I this year, by far, most have played. Especially cool is that it is a real strategy game, in which you need to have a good think about your choices, and you make a wrong decision directly see the consequences. Also nice is that developer Blizzard, the game continues to expand, and after a few months, a new set of cards to play with. Recommended!

Rayman Classic
Game publisher Ubisoft celebrated this year its 30th anniversary and brought, therefore, the original Rayman for Android and iOS. The game is pretty old, but looks on smartphones is still pretty and is very fun to play, especially if you like the game used to be on the old consoles I have played. Small drawback is the control scheme, which is due to the virtual joystick is not always working well. This is sometimes frustrating, since Rayman Classic is a spirited game where you have to be careful and just need to be timed.

Flamingo
This year there appeared a new alternative to the official Twitter app: Flamingo. The application looks not only brighter, but is also fully customizable with many different themes and colors. Also is the app chock full of features. Thus, there is a 3D Touch-like option: tap on a profile and keep your finger on the screen, then you get a small preview. Also is there a night mode available and there are a lot of settings to play with.

Prism
Another app that is not in my list may be missing: Prism. This photo app makes it shoot snapshots even more fun because you have all your photos can easily turn it into a work of art. The fine of this is that you are not an experienced smartphonefotograaf needs to be to produce beautiful sculptures. Prism is the past months, extended with various features, but the filters and other effects remain the most fun to play with.
