Android 5.0.1: factory images Nexus 4 and Nexus 6 appear online – Android World

Last week, Google released the first update for Android 5.0 in. This update for Lollipop solved a number of major and minor problems. The update was previously only available for tablets without 3G / 4G connection and not for smartphones. The factory images for the Nexus 4 and Nexus 6 are now available for download though.

SMS bug and more

In the first version Android 5.0 Lollipop were some problems that are resolved to Android 5.0.1 with minor update. These include a problem with text messages on Vodafone. Due to an error from Google were text messages from users of Vodafone Netherlands accidentally sent through a US server. These were not so, but the users have been put to great expense, as an SMS message was sent by a US number. Android 5.0.1 solves this problem, as we discovered earlier.

At first, the update to Android 5.0.1 available for tablets without 3G / 4G capability. Presumably, had the update for other devices such as the Nexus 4, Nexus and Nexus 5 6 first be approved by providers and testing organizations. It seems that this is now done for the Nexus 4 and Nexus 6, given that the factory images have appeared. With these images devices can be repaired for example, when something has gone wrong with installing unofficial firmware. They can also be used to manually upgrade to a new Android version.

Likely normal updates for the Nexus 4 and Nexus 6 also now follow the factory images are released. These are easier to install. In addition, we expect in the short term that the update for the Nexus 5 will start.
