At the Computex trade show ASUS has announced a new optical drive. Although the market for optical drives nowadays has become quite minimal, ASUS still trying some news with the old-fashioned discs. With the ASUS ZenDrive DVDs can in fact now also be read on an Android device.
In addition to the read-out, the ZenDrive can, moreover, also describe DVDs. This can be a maximum speed of 8x, which is also the maximum read speed of the DVD burner. The device is controlled via USB 2.0 and can be connected to phones running Android 5.0 or higher. Also, Windows 7, 8 and 10 are supported, as well as OS X 10.6 or later.
