ING begins in summer with contactless payments via Android smartphone – NU.nl

Before that customers must have a phone with Android 4.4 (Kitkat) or higher, which is equipped with an NFC chip. The technology used is also on debit cards that can be used for contactless payments.

ING is the first Dutch bank to roll out smart phone payments wide. Rabobank began here earlier already, but the service of that bank works only on two older Samsung devices.

Customers of ING will need to download a new app to make NFC payments. This app should be logged in with the PIN that users of the existing Mobile Banking app have been created.

According to the bank now have 6.5 million customers a debit card that can be used for contactless payments. In total, ING processed until May 13 million NFC payments, or two per customer with an appropriate pass.

The Netherlands has more than 80,000 POS terminals which support contactless payments. Among other stations in many stores support this payment
