Microsoft makes Office apps for Android smartphones available – Tweakers

Microsoft Office apps Word, Excel and PowerPoint after a preview period officially released for users of Android smartphones. The apps are free, but the functionality is required a subscription to Office 365.

Microsoft has the stamp preview Word, Excel and PowerPoint met and the apps in the Play Store made available for everyone. The launch follows the rollout of the preview versions in mid-May, while in January, though the only version with Android tablets appeared.

According to Microsoft, the apps at the preview on 1900 different Android devices in 83 tested countries. Based on feedback, the group would have decided to improve connection to storage services to third parties such as Google Drive and Box.

Microsoft makes it possible to give documents the apps again and adapt and presentations show from the Android phone. Office 365 is required for enhanced functionality, such as creating and editing on tablets with a screen larger than 10.1 inches. Many manufacturers of Android smartphones, such as Samsung, LG and Sony put the apps all from the factory on certain devices.

The apps follow it launched two years ago Office Mobile on Android and requires Android 4.4 or later versions for installation.
