Google is working on an app that brings the Nexus software, or stock Android to other Android devices such as smartphones and tablets. Android Police reports that based on some evidence in the new launcher.

already published some Google Nexus-only apps, including the keyboard and the calendar app, available for other devices. It is therefore not strange to assume that Google is working on the same type of app, which like Facebook Home may change.

The clue is found in the current launcher of Nexus devices. This is now called com.google.android.gel instead of com.android.launcher, where ‘gel’ could save Google Experience Launcher. In addition, there is now “google” in the filename, which often indicates that the app an official Google app in Google Play. Google previously made similar references in the name key and calendar app available.

HTC One and Galaxy S4 are both already released in a special Google Play version with stock Android instead of HTC’s Sense or Samsung’s TouchWiz. These devices are quite popular and received critical acclaim.
