Caterpillar is a company which specializes in heavy excavators and trucks, but puts Since 2013 regularly Android smartphones on the market. The new CAT S50 is the successor of the B15, a device that we have been subjected to a review, and is presented at the IFA in Berlin.

CAT S50 is the successor to the CAT B15Q, a device for the difficult conditions in which we have written a review. That phone had a screen with a low resolution, a camera with a mediocre resolution, no 4G and little internal memory and had to rely mainly on its housing that could withstand water, dust, bumps and drops. The new CAT S50 is in all respects an improvement and is the latest addition to rugged work phones from Caterpillar.
The screen size has gone from 4 inches to 4.7 inches, but the resolution is also much gone up . Where B15Q it had to do with a paltry resolution of 800×480 pixels, the S50 a 720p screen, or 1280×720 pixels. The processor is an unknown quad-core version with a clock speed of 1.2 GHz, probably from MediaTek. On the back we find an 8-megapixel camera including LED flash.
There is 8GB find that expandable through a microSD card memory in the device , as well as LTE support, and the device runs on Android 4.4 peeled or adjustments. The unit features a feed IP67 and MIL-810G certification. The IP67 certification ensures that the device can be up to 1 meter deep. Held for 30 minutes under water The MIL-810G rating makes the device resistant to salt, dust, rain, humidity, vibration, solar radiation and traps. Makes CAT for this unit using a shatterproof front plate of Gorilla Glass 3-glass and is available with more than 1,000 applications, according to the manufacturer’s convenient for CAT users. Availability
The device is now available at various online stores worldwide but in the Netherlands, the device seems nowhere in stock. The European price for the Cat S50 is € 479 and the rugged smartphone will be available in two colors: Forest and Slate
