Google discusses some features of Android M is Android N ‘Nacho’? – Android World

We can news and rumors about the name of new Android versions in the category of ‘light entertainment’ sites. Of course it does not matter how a new release is called, but it’s funny to speculate. What does matter is the content and it popped up today for developers some interesting news about it.

Android L – Lemon Meringue Pie

Internally times already spoken at Google about LMP when referring to Android L. This abbreviation stands for Lemon Meringue Pie. Basically, it does not mean anything: the previous release (Android 4.4 – KitKat) received at the last moment a new name. Before Android L was (internally) known as Key Lime Pie.

Basically, Android was ‘K’ is an exception: it was a closed (apparently off) deal at the last minute with Nestle KitKat so the name was used. It seems unlikely that Google is going to repeat this ‘joke’ in the short term, though we have seen rumors that Android L will be used. Still called Android Lion Lollipop is also still called regularly.

We expect mid-October to find out more about the name: According to the latest rumors, the HTC Nexus 9 will be announced and we expect the official release of Android L.

Android M

The successor to Android L will, you guessed it, starting with the letter M. Myce.com Today found some references to Android M in new code of public source code of Android. These include a useful feature for developers. The application used simply said to trace in Android Apps, Logcat, to include failures get colored output. Normally, this output is a maze of monochrome text, but from Android M this text will also have colors, presumably to indicate the level at which these errors are going.

The other feature has to do with the Communication between Google servers and applications, which will be especially interesting for developers. Also interesting is that it asks whether that feature in ‘LMP-MRX’ is needed. LMP stands there for Lemon Meringue Pie (Android so L) and “MRX” stands for “maintenance release x ‘. So Jelly Bean consisted of Android 4.1, 4.2 and 4.3, where 4.2 and 4.3 were Jellybean MR1 and MR2 Jellybean respectively. Also for other Android versions, there were this kind of “maintenance updates” that were actually more than that. If L Android version 5.0 will, then a maintenance release should the version number 5.0.1 or 5.1 can get, especially depending on how big the differences are.

 Android M

Android N

When we wrote yesterday about new features that we’re probably going to see on Android devices with Android 2.2 and later through an update of Google Play services at short notice, we passed an interesting bug report against. From the page we can see that Google employees new opportunities in terms of log are testing. There appears to be able to join a (rare) problem and on that page is a temporary solution put forward. This workaround must be resolved according to the same page in the future and before ‘Nacho’ suits.

Of course, it is nothing at all to say that the name “Nacho” is used, but it is interesting to speculate about what time Google it: last year KitKat came out in the fall and this year’s fall follows until the next major release (L). In the past we often saw two relatively large releases per year. Could the solution to the above problem only rare coming two years, or Google will still faster release new versions? Or, what is also very possible, use this Google employee named ‘Nacho’ to indicate ‘in the future’. The last possibility is that we just sit and besides that it’s about something else entirely.

Anyway, we have speculated enough again. We wait at least until the release of Android L.
