Google has released the first test version of the previous month announced new, faster emulator. This emulator allows to test possible Android apps developers on different Android versions and under different virtual conditions.
Faster emulator with more options
What’s immediately striking about the new emulator is the new interface. This was since the beginning of Android not really addressed and the current stable version is not really excels in usability. When starting up the emulator you immediately see the new toolbar, from which you can choose all the new options. The most commonly used features, such as adjusting the volume or making a screenshot, are fed directly into the picture.
The new emulator is a lot faster, because it provides better support for multi-core processors. That difference is immediately noticeable in practice. Additionally, you can, if you use images to Android 6.0 Marshmallow or later, to send five times faster installation files to the emulator.
Drag Files
You can also zoom in on this new version a portion of your app or make the screen larger or smaller by dragging. There is support for drag & amp; drop, so you can install APK’s by dragging them from your desktop. Other files can be copied directly to the virtual machine by dragging them to the File Manager app.
You can also easily operate the phone features of the virtual machine. The management app, you can for example an incoming text message or phone call emulate. From the app you can also set the ‘scope’ of the unit or the battery status.
Availability
The new emulator is used in conjunction with the latest version of the preview of Android Studio 2.0 (version 3 at the moment).
