Time for a new look back on an iconic Android device: the One M7 reminds us of the innovative and successful HTC two years ago. What made this device so special?
HTC released the One M7, initially called HTC One, beginning in 2013 in the Benelux. The unit followed the HTC One X, one of the first smartphones with a unibody. Where this the One X consisted of plastic, the M7 One had a full metal body HTC trend continued for a premium line of smartphones. And that hit on: within a few months HTC sold five million copies of the unit
HTC One M7 retrospect
Two and a half years ago, we concluded that the One is one of the most impressive smartphones. of was in 2013. This was mainly thanks to the unprecedented build quality that HTC has long been known for. ” Two years later there is little left of the good name that the Taiwanese smartphone maker had at that time. The company has only a fraction of the smartphone market, and it seems the track being very
We look back at the first One, we can nevertheless say that the unit was one of the best of his generation. In 2013, the lake underwent compete with the Samsung Galaxy S4 and Sony Xperia Z. With a full-HD screen of 4.7 inches, a full metal body, a 2300 mAh battery and powerful stereo speakers had One more Plenty of in-house to differentiate itself from its competitors.
Unmatched
One particular of the screen made a good impression with beautiful colors, excellent viewing angles and high resolution. The 4.7 inch screen was with its 1080p resolution even as the sharpest screen smartphone in the world. The design and build quality of the One were above average and a source of inspiration for many other manufacturers.
Out of the box turned the HTC One Android 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean) covered with Sense 5.0, HTC’s own Android skin. This introduced Blink Feed, social and interactive home screen with colored blocks and news streams. Although Blink Feed was a nice attempt to bring more dynamic content to the home screen, there was also criticism. Mainly because of the manner in which muddled messages to the user have been shown. It was difficult to find a clear stream.
Less criticism was the performance of the HTC One M7. With a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 chip, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of storage and 4G support was a tremendously powerful and future-proof smartphone. It is therefore not surprising that the M7 has also received the update to Android Lollipop. Unfortunately, he comes to Android Marshmallow not (officially) into account.
Powerful front speakers
One was one of the first devices with a significant effort was made to implement decent speakers. HTC placed two speakers at the front of the unit and added so-called Boom Sound technology to achieve a fuller, clearer sound. And they did, because compared to the competition the speakers produced an incredibly loud, clear and pretty pure sound
Also for the camera HTC came up with something new. The so-called ultra-pixel camera should provide contrast richer and more detailed photos. HTC came out with the made-term ultra pixel, to indicate that the camera could capture more light for better pictures in dark environments. In practice, it was a bit disappointing, as you can read in our review HTC One. The photos the camera shoots are not bad, but shrugged it in terms of resolution and detail not included in the competition.
Although the HTC One is still a warm place in our hearts because of its attractive design, powerful hardware and Welcome extras. We hope that HTC can quickly turn the tide with a device that is as innovative as the M7 two years ago.
