It was going to be a ‘rotating menu’ in Android. That graphical effect was in the 90s already used in tv software of Philips, at that time, patent granted. The tv branch of Philips is now under a joint venture with the Taiwanese TP Vision.
Google already has a ‘patch’ for Android released which the patent infringement is reversed, but not all partners have this update implemented in their software. For Asus, that is the reason in order to temporarily ZenFone and ZenPad from the shelves to retrieve.
