This enables researchers from Strategy Analytics Monday in front of the Wall Street Journal .
In the third quarter of the year was 84 percent of all phones sold worldwide, an Android device, compared to 85 percent in the second quarter.
“Unless the number of Apple iPhones sold in the future unexpectedly collapses, Android will probably never be far above the limit of 85 percent market share,” says director Neil Mawston from Strategy Analytics .
In the third quarter, Apple had 12 percent of the smartphone market in the hands, while 3 percent of all devices turned on Windows Phone and only 1 percent had a Blackberry device.
Although Google’s market share does not grow, the absolute number of sold Android phones will probably rise. The researchers expect that the smartphone market as a whole 12 percent growth in 2015.
Google seems to beIn addition, more control over the operating system itself. To a large extent Android is open source and can be adjusted by manufacturers. For example, many Android phones sold in China without the services of the search giant like Google Maps or Google Play appwinkel are included.
The proportion of such “Android forks” however goes down. In the third quarter, 63 percent of all Android phones sold was a device with Google services, compared to 61 percent in the previous quarter.
Strategy Analytics attributes this to a maturing smartphone market in China. Google is in the quarter also started its Android One initiative, including affordable smartphones are created with a ‘bare’ Google version of Android.
