Android KitKat on more than 20 percent of Android devices – Techzine

Google today released new figures published on the use of Android. This shows that already 20.9 percent of all Android users are using the latest version, Android 4.4 KitKat. However, 51.4 percent still uses an Android version that is older than two years.

Once a month, Google will publish figures on the use of Android, every month we see that the latest version is growing and the proportion of older versions is smaller. Similarly, this month, if we compare the figures with those of July. Compared to the figures from last month’s Android 4.1 Jelly Bean is now more than two years, making the proportion of devices with Android version less than two years has fallen from 75 percent to 48.6 percent. Significantly

If we study the figures closer we see Android 4.1 in absolute numbers has the largest share with 26.5 percent, followed by the latest version Android 4.4 Kitkat 20.9 percent. Android 4.2 is good for 19.8 percent.

The figures also show that there are still a large number (13.6 percent) outdated equipment in circulation with Android 2.3 Gingerbread, this version is already more than three years old and its use decreases barely. Google is trying more and more manufacturers are moving to provide faster updates of their apparatus therefor now applies the stricter rules. This autumn comes with Google Android L, the latest version of Android mobile operating system where the whole lot on the kick has gone, both in appearance and technical. The big question is what it will have on updating outdated equipment, or impact Google manufacturers far will update soon or many devices will get Android to L.
