Half of Android devices running version older than two years – Nutech

More than half of all active Android devices running a version of the operating system that is older than two years.

This demonstrates the latest figures on the distribution of Android that Google publishes monthly.

The latest version, Android 4.4 Kitkat, is ten months after the release of nearly 21 percent of all active phones and tablets with Android.

More than 51 percent, however, turns a version that is released for August 2012, two years ago. It is Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, Android 2.3 Gingerbread and Android 2.2 Froyo.

Especially now almost three year old Gingerbread is with 13.6 percent still remarkably popular, although in terms of absolute numbers, most people use the two-year-old Android 4.1 Jelly Bean (26.5 percent).

The nearly 49 percent availing versions under two years has Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, Android 4.3 or Android 4.4 Jelly Bean Kitkat.

Later this year Google Android L. It means a complete makeover for the mobile operating system, both in appearance and functionality. Android L is expected in the fall to be released.
