We knew there would be an update to Android 5.1, and there now seems to be known about. Artem Russakovskii, editor of Android Police, reports on his Google+ page that Android 5.1.1 later this week or next week is released. Google would have to wait a while so that the Nexus 9 Nexus 7 (2013) and Nexus 4 are updated.

Android 5.1.1 would solve the known memory leak, but add more options for Android Wear. This allows users to use various movements to control Android Wear. An example of this is the movement of the wrist in order to scroll through notifications. Additionally Russakovski speaks wifi support for the operating system for smart watches.

Most Android Wear smart watches have a wifi chip, but are not currently able to use it. Often the smart watches are connected via Bluetooth to a smartphone, but Android 5.1.1 to bring so change that.

A month ago Android 5.1 (Lollipop) released by Google. The first major update Lollipop brought some useful features along with it, such as the return of the silent mode. In addition, Android 5.1 Device Protection added, that a lost or stolen smartphone is locked and improved support for two SIM cards and HD calls.
