Developers crack Cortana, build your own Android version – Apparata

Works Cortana now on Android!
Microsoft wants Cortana bring to Android and iOS, but two smart developers are too quick for the tech giant.

Cortana the voice assistant in Windows Phone and that role soon also takes on Windows 10. Thanks so nice, but in the smartphone market, the influence of Cortana is rather limited because the market share of Windows Phone is still quite small. Therefore, Microsoft took a while ago with the idea to also bring to other platforms Cortana.

We have in this case, already a little tip for the guys in Redmond, take to the men behind OrangeSec. They have demonstrated during Droidcon namely a working version of Cortana. So far nothing special, not true that the personal assistant turned on an Android device.

Portaña (like the hack called) actually works not so complicated, because the app is still making use of the information on Microsoft’s servers. Portaña simply ensures that these servers think they send information to a Windows Phone device, while in reality they communicate with an Android smartphone.

OrangeSec Portaña is not going to develop, though only because Microsoft could block such an app with a button press. The developers went there mainly to show what you get with a bit of skill to another.
