“BlackBerry is considering launch Android devices” – Android World

Shares BlackBerry are only worth 6.6% of what they were worth at the peak of the company in 2008 and for years the company seems to falter. The launch of BlackBerry 10, the latest version of the mobile operating system from the American company, has put no grist to the mill. Possibly get the company to the next device to Android.

BlackBerry and Android

That it does not go well with BlackBerry also reflected in the number of staff it employs now. In 2011 there were still 17,500 people currently work there are 6,225 people on BlackBerry.

BlackBerry has never released an Android device, but is certainly familiar with the operating system. Initially, BlackBerry had already missed the boat with the rise of modern smartphones by holding a hose to a ‘traditional’ operating system. When the company, then called RIM finally came up with a more modern operating system, iOS and Android already had a huge lead in apps that were available.

To a large number of apps for the new operating system boost giving, BlackBerry made it possible to transfer Android apps to its own operating system. The downside was that the possibilities for applications were limited, simple apps that were using only an Internet connection worked fine, but problems quickly arose as applications were somewhat more advanced

Odds:. Android device with physical keyboard

According to sources from Reuters will now BlackBerry devices will launch with Android on board. The focus of the company is mainly on BlackBerry Enterprise Service 12 (BES12), the management system which makes it possible to manage devices from different manufacturers and with different operating systems and secure. With BES12 companies can manage devices with iOS, Android, Windows Phone or BlackBerry OS.

The sources indicate that it is difficult to convince companies that BES12 fine works with all operating systems. The release of BlackBerry devices with Android would be an important signal to show that even BES12 can protect systems from competitors.

In addition, there are certainly opportunities for the BlackBerry smartphone division. Currently there are hardly Android smartphones on the market that use a physical keyboard. The devices are available, its low-end and are sporadically or not updated. An appliance from a manufacturer known for the good security with a physical keyboard and a large and growing ecosystem (Android), could well be a good step for BlackBerry.

Availability

BlackBerry still indicates that the company “remains faithful to BlackBerry 10. That could mean that BlackBerry does not completely switch to Android, but will offer an alternative. The sources of Reuters to report that an Android device with a touchscreen and a sliding keyboard that can possibly emerge in the autumn will be released
