Moto X (2013): update to Android 5.1 began Lollipop – Android World

Motorola has started rolling out to Android 5.1 Lollipop for the original Moto X. The update is not yet available in the Netherlands, wide rollout in North America and Brazil probably means that an update in Europe will not let long in coming.

Moto X

The original Moto X was the first device of ‘ new Motorola ‘. The unit left the company, then still part of Google, that you do not spec on paper to have to offer a high-performance smartphone. The Moto X (2013) has a special chipset with a proprietary chip which allows it to always listen to a hotword ‘, for example’ OK Moto ‘and to always “listening” for sensors to determine if the phone is in use or not.

That special chipset probably also ensured that the Moto X no (broad) update to Android 5.0 Lollipop received. It has been tested with a select group of users, but the results were not yet so well that the update was distributed to all users.

The update to Android 5.1, Google has a number of problems in Android 5.0, the first version of Lollipop dissolved. Because include address a number of problems with memory, this latest version of Android will probably also be a lot better run at the Moto X.

Availability

Currently, roll the update to Android 5.1 in the United States, Brazil and Canada. When the update is also coming to Europe, is not yet known. More information about the update read on the official (English) support page from Motorola
