This was discovered Android Police based on code found in the latest update for Android Camera. The new feature is not yet used in the app.
After a series of photos in quick succession is in burst mode, the app starts an analysis. This should include a general feature of the photo, such as color saturation and sharpness, but also specifically done an analysis for portraits.
For example, the software looks how many faces there are in an image, or these faces well are seen. Examines whether people have their eyes open, too.
Users finally get to see a list of photos that are ranked according to their “score” in this analysis. So it must be easy to choose the best photos directly to store.
The new feature is rather like the Best Face mode that Samsung offered on its phones. That mode made several burst photos and then combined them into a single photo that all people look the best. The Galaxy S6, the latest flagship of Samsung, the Best Face mode for unknown reasons no longer exist.
It is unclear when the new feature Google wants useful for users. Possible is done simultaneously with the appearance of the new Android version M or with the appearance of new Nexus devices.
Google Camera is installed by default in the ‘basic’ version of Android and other Android versions for download in Google Play
