Android apps have been downloaded in 2015 two times more than iOS apps. According to research from analyst firm App Annie. Sounds like bad news for Apple, but that’s not necessarily true.
Worldwide counted Google in 2015 to 200 million app downloads in the Play Store, compared with 100 million downloads in the Apple App Store.
The big difference is partly attributable to emerging markets such as India and Brazil, where cheap Android devices are much more popular than the relatively expensive iPhones. More users means more downloads.
In contrast, Apple makes more profit on app downloads. Although there are fewer apps brought in, give iOS users more often (or more) money than do Android owners in the Play Store.
Gaming, streaming and dating
App Annie also noted a large increase in the use of taxi apps. In addition, more money spent on dating and streaming apps.
Games remain for both Google and Apple’s main app revenue. A whopping 90 percent of Android-app revenue earned from games, and that number is on iOS 75 percent.
