During an otherwise fairly dull electronics CES this year was one announcement to: Jide’s Remix Android will be available for all Intel-based PCs and not only through the Remix plug-in device. Why anyone Android operating system on the PC would like? I can think of no good reason
.
If you have a small screen limited capabilities, I can recommend the Remix device to run Android on your PC. This may be a result in this particular case presentations and gaming. The device can be a useful addition to your Android tablet or smartphone. But to use it as a full desktop OS? That does not seem sensible.
Software lacking
There are few great apps in Google Play that is also available for OS X or Windows. Windows replaced with Android is as stupid as it is replaced by Chrome OS. Stupid even, because Chrome OS does at least not like it’s a full PC operating system, but is more of a lightweight browser-based system for classrooms and demonstration kiosks.
When people said that Windows PCs the company would be replaced by Macs – especially during periods of Vista and Windows 8 – protested IT and users because Macs do not have the same set of business applications and Windows. Mac use outside specialized sectors, basic productivity and web usage was unrealistic. If you find that to be true (and it is) is where in the square ‘for Android.
Windows dominates the PC world, OS X follows at a distance. At even greater distances iOS is because few people use their iPad with keyboard and monitor to use him as PC. Further still are queuing Android, followed by Linux and Chrome OS.
Restrictions OS
Android is protected not as strong as Windows, OS X and iOS. Which company would accept that? Especially since Jide’s Remix OS is an Android version, and as a compatibility issue where IT departments generally not been waiting for, especially if it comes from a niche player like Jide.
And What about peripherals? Android supports not much, especially USB storage, keyboard and mouse. Printing on Android can with Google Cloud Print, but this is a mess that is not useful for most users. And forget it to scan something. Other peripherals at home and in the office is also not supported.
Supporters of Android are as a PC OS, given the disappearance of Windows XP that the world is ready for a Windows alternative and they count the Mac not count because of Apple’s strict control over it. They think that a large number of Android developers would yield an Android PC direct benefits.
Good try
Yes, Vista, and Windows 8 were a disaster. But that is not true for Windows 7 and Windows 10 – despite the complaints about update problems – also getting better. It’s certainly good for organizations with high migration costs – especially if applications must be rebuilt – to avoid
The large number of Android apps in Google Play are especially impressive as a figure, not so much in quality or. capacities. The community of Android developers focusing clearly on a mobile platform, and will not easily provide what PC users really need.
I applaud the efforts of Jide to make suitable Android for larger screens increase, but only if it is an addition to Android mobile and a desktop PC (or Mac). Android is simply not logical for the PC.
