The BlackBerry Priv since a month available in the Netherlands and runs on Android 5.0 out of the box Lollipop, since BlackBerry CEO Ron Louks already announced that the Android 6.0 update Marshmallow is in development and will appear sometime in 2016. That can mean anything, but the company gave this week at the Consumer Electronics Show some clarity about the Android 6.0 update for the BlackBerry Priv.
During the CES event in Las Vegas said Louks that Android Marshmallow 6.0 update is not yet ready to be rolled out for BlackBerry Priv, but the update should in any case be available before the end of the first quarter of 2016. During the same presentation Louks also confirmed that there are accessories from third parties on arrival, unfortunately no further details were released. Chances are that BlackBerry at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona comes with more concrete information.
BlackBerry Priv Users will have to raise so be patient before Android 6.0 Marshmallow is available. Before the end of the first quarter means that the update is being rolled out to the end of March. That will take a while, but we’ve got at least some idea of when the update should be ready.
