CES (Consumer Electronics Show) 2016 is over. This year was the program of the consumer tech fair to the brim with introductions, launches and more. This happened in the area of Android.
CES is one of those regular annual events where a lot of new technology is shown. Also for Android came back quite a bit of news from Las Vegas. New appliances, new wearables, cars, speakers and more. We put the highlights in a row.
1. Huawei Mate 8
The day before CES 2016 already leaked out that Huawei would launch Mate 8. The smartphone has a 6 inch screen, 32GB of expandable storage and 3GB of RAM. A Hisilicon Kirin 950 chipset provides the power of the smartphone. Fine is that Mate 8 on a battery capacity of up to 4000mAh available, you must provide at least two days of battery life. The device is the first smartphone from the company that runs on Android 6.0. The Mate 8 is already bookable for 599 Euros.
In addition to the eight Mate Huawei also announced the MediaPad 10 of M2. A 10.1-inch tablet with a resolution of 1920 by 1200 pixels running on a Kirin 930 chip and 2GB of RAM. Furthermore, the tablet 16GB of storage, a 6660mAh battery and Android version 5.1 (Lollipop).
2. HTC Vive Pre
Last year, HTC unveiled the Vive, this year announced the manufacturer’s Vive Pre to: the new and improved version of the virtual reality goggles. The glasses will be developed in collaboration with game maker Valve and is much smaller than the first version. The seat is to better adapt to its wearer, so that people with a large head of vr enjoy. Vive Pre is equipped with a front camera, so you can do both inside and outside the virtual world affairs and can overlap. The controllers have been enhanced and features include soft edges, new buttons with relief and finer handles. Vive the Pre will be released in April 2016. The price is not yet announced.
3. LG K Series
LG introduces the K series, a new smartphone line aimed at young people. The K series consists of two midrange devices: LG K10 and K7. The LG K10 is its largest, with 5.3 inch screen and a resolution of 1280 by 720 pixels. In addition, the device has a 2300 mAh battery and 8GB or 16GB storage. The device runs on Android 1.5 (Lollipop).
The LG K7 has a 5 inch screen with a resolution of 864 by 480 pixels . This phone has a 2125 mAh battery and seems to continue on the K10. It is still unclear when the phones are released.
4. Fitbit Blaze
Fitbit has unveiled a new smart watch that is suitable for different fitness activities. The Fitbit Blaze is thus entirely focused on energetic users. It is the octagonal shape also a striking appearance. Particularly this smart watch is that it automatically detects your activities. You do not have to report that you go running or play tennis, because I know the blaze already.
Furthermore, the Blaze acts as a pedometer and also watched you sleep. Also knows how to tell how many calories you burn and what is your heartbeat. Get notifications on your phone, you can also read it on the watch.
5. Casio
Casio showed at Consumer Electronics Show CES Android Wear a watch which gives users the ability to toggle between color and monochrome screen to save battery power. This is a very big difference. The color gives up one day with the battery, while the monochrome screen so it can hold a full month. However, the WDS F10 is not exactly a sexy name.
The watch is also particularly focused on active users. This is evidenced by the pressure sensor and water resistance to 50 meters. It has also become a solid watch that it can take a beating. It is not yet known whether the smart watch will also appear in the Benelux or what it will cost.
6. More speakers for Google Cast
Google has lined up new speaker makers tied for embedded Google Cast functionality. Although Google does the same as Chrome Cast Cast Audio, no extra device required by the built-in function. This is an extra bit of comfort. In 2016 there will be Google Cast speakers presented by B & O Play, Harman Kardon, Onkyo, Philips, Pioneer and Raumfeld. LG and Sony have already Google Cast speakers made in 2016 and go through with it.
7. Ford runs with Android Cars
Ford announced in 2016 Android Car to offer in new cars. Ford has confirmed that in the Netherlands have new four-wheel system on board which Android and Apple Auto CarPlay can be rotated. These are the Ford Mondeo, S-MAX and Galaxy. From June, you can expect the smart car systems in these Ford vehicles.
8. Android on your desktop with Remix OS
The company Jide stood at CES 2016 in Remix OS. Created by some ex-Google employees, Remix OS interface of Android running on a desktop. Soon it is to use this system on virtually any PC, provided it runs on hardware from Intel and it is an x86 system.
