Android market share continues to grow 6.0 marshmallow – TechTastic

The number of devices running on Android 6.x Marshmallow continues to grow, according to Google data. The latest figures show that Marshmallow now at 13.3 percent of all Android devices running while Android 5.x Lollipop and Android 4.4 KitKat see shrinking market share further.

Google’s Android 6x Marshmallow, that the fourth quarter of 2015 was released last month was still running at 10.1 percent of all devices and thus has experienced a growth of 3.2 percent. The market share continues to grow steadily, because in May turned only 7.5 percent of all active Android devices on Android Marshmallow.

The growth in our eyes mainly to do with the release of updates for example the Galaxy S6 series, but also there since March, released a large number of popular phones running out of the box on Android Marshmallow. The initial growth of Android 6.0 Marshmallow was very slow, in February, the operating system could be found only 1 percent of all active devices, five months after the release of several Nexus devices.

Furthermore, the figures show that Android Lollipop with a market share of 35.1 percent is still the most used version (14.3 runs Android 5.0 and 20.8 percent Android 5.1), a small decrease compared to the 35.4 percent in May. Android 4.4 KitKat also continues to decline and is now available to 30.1 percent of all units, a decrease of 1.5 percent compared to 31.6 percent last month.

Android Jelly Bean has always a market share of 17.8 percent, down 1.1 percent compared with June. Android 4.0.x Ice Cream Sandwich running at 1.7 percent, Android 2.3.x Gingerbread 1.9% and Android 2.2 Froyo with 0.1 percent almost disappeared from the survey
