Google releases second preview of Android Wear from 2.0 – GSM Helpdesk Netherlands

Google has released the announced new version of its Android Wear operating system, a new test version for wearables in May. In the second beta version of Android Wear 2.0 Google has the so-called API levels raised to ‘API level 24′, indicating that Android Wear 2.0 is based on the upcoming new version of the Android operating system for smartphones and tablets (Android 7.0 Nougat ).

the developments in Android Wear going slower than the smartphone and tablet version of the Android operating system. The most important new addition with respect to the first support-beta is API for operating by means of wearables movements. That means now getting developers of apps to access this feature.

The current version of Android Wear that runs on most smart watches is already possible to scroll through example notifications using wrist movements. The functionality with the Android Wear smartwatch can be controlled using so-called ‘gestures’, however, was hitherto only reserved for apps and functionality of Google. These capabilities have also become available in the second beta of Android Wear 2.0 for app developers.

The second beta version of Android Wear 2.0 is available for anyone who is interested. Developers, manufacturers and hobbyists can download the new test version. For now, the trial is only to be used on the LG Watch Urbane 2nd Edition LTE and Huawei Watch. Once Android Wear 2.0 this fall officially by Google is released this new version of Android Wear will come as an update available for multiple smart watches.
