Hack Tool for Android and Bluetooth made open source – Security.nl

Beveiligingsbedrijf Pwnie Express has two hacking tools for Android and Bluetooth made open source, which should make it easier to implement mobile security tests and test the security of Bluetooth devices. The Android Open Pwn Project (AOPP) is the first Android version that is made purely for performing penetration tests.

Through AOPP users can create their own mobile platform for penetration testing by installing the example on a smartphone or tablet. Pwnie Express uses AOPP itself to Pwn Pwn Phone and Pad. The operating system is based on the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) and several other versions of the operating system, such as CyanogenMod. According Pwnie Express is the functionality and installation for novice users simplified and can help developers from the community to make the project work on other devices.

To test Bluetooth devices developed Pwnie Express “Blue Hydra” (video). The tool is able to find Bluetooth devices, and to automatically identify corresponding threats. It includes both Bluetooth and Bluetooth Low Energy devices in the area and whether to identify themselves. “This tool will help security professionals with visibility of Bluetooth, which is essential for finding threats in our world that is increasingly connected,” says Pwnie Express CEO Rick Farina.
