Google Springboard Android gets its own universal search – Android Planet

Google Springboard allows business users their mail, documents, contacts and more searching at once. The universal search tool for Android is being rolled out only slowly.

While Google is known as search engine company, is precisely in this area that Android has to perform the substantial against Apple’s iOS. Android devices do not have a simple way to search through all your files, be sure not spread if these files across multiple apps. It is just that easy with universal search function of the iPhone which all gather under one search button

With Google Springboard seems to put the company finally steps to address that weakness. The new Android app scans not only email but also documents in Google Drive, Google Groups, your calendar and your calendar. Virtually every part of your Google Account can thus search Springboard.

The app offers several filter options, allowing you eg only for contacts or just anything except you can search mail. On the homepage of the app is a survey to find all the documents and pages you’ve recently changed.

There being two main disadvantages to Springboard. The application would currently designed for Google Apps for Business users, users with corporate accounts so. Gmail or Google Drive from your private account search is not in there. Google or function at a later time roll out to all users is not yet known.

Even with that business account, however, you can not directly with Springboard to work. Google invites only selected groups of users for the service. Moreover, there is no place to request an invite.

Google does not detail the further rollout of Springboard. Presumably the service will be available later this year for a larger group of users, though still unknown whether Google Springboard also appears for non-business accounts.

Springboard is found already in the Play Store and works on any smartphone running Android 4.2 Jelly Bean or later. There is 3,8MB storage space required. Without invitation, you can not use the app.
