Android 7.0 Nougat rolled out to Xperia Z3+, Z5, Z5 Premium and Z5 Compact – TechTastic

Sony has today started rolling out the Android 7.0 Nougat update for Xperia Z3+, Xperia Z5, Xperia Z5 Premium and the Xperia Z5 Compact. It is the last Sony phones that receive the update. These models will be powered by the Snapdragon 810-the soc, while Qualcomm has decided not to make any new drivers for the Snapdragon 800 – and 801-soc.

Now available for Xperia Z3+ Z5 series

In the Netherlands, there are several users of the Xperia Z3+ that make mention of the update, while the roll-out of the Nougat-update for the Z5 Compact not yet appear to be available. The new firmware is based on Android 7.0 and it is still unclear whether the Japanese company has plans to later version 7.1 to make or that it direct the step to the next major update. If that is the case, then the chances are that a number of devices outside of the boat will fall.

Last year confirmed Sony Xperia Z3+ be the oldest phone that will come with Android 7.0 Nougat. That news came at the right time as a surprise, because, shortly before a preview version of Android N introduced for the Xperia Z3.

The update brings the following improvements:

  • Multi-window support: Nougat makes it possible to have two applications next to each other to rotate, a double-tap lets you switch between these apps.
  • A longer battery life thanks to the optimizations of Google and Sony.
  • Messaging-app: easier sharing of videos and audio.
  • New interface for selfies: make faster beautiful selfies with the all-new timer button.
  • Home: a smarter, more personal home screen with Google Now integration.

another important improvement is the new notificatiescherm that allows users to respond directly to, for example, a chatberichtje, without the corresponding app on to start. Further introduces Nougat the Vulkan api, for improved graphics in games, an option to select certain apps to use, without having to install and faster app updates.
