On the page of Gboard in the Play Store is shows that the software 500 million to one billion installations. On some Android devices, the software by the manufacturer already on the device.
Gboard, formerly Google Keyboard, since 2013 available for Android and recently got a major update. Earlier this year, Google, an updated version of it for iOS.
The new features are this year for the Android version released. Thus, under the more support for multiple active languages, and an integrated search engine added.
