Android distributiecijfers January 2017: Marshmallow rises, Froyo is dead – DroidApp (Blog)

Google has the distributiecijfers of Android for January 2017 to be announced. The seven-year-old Android 2.2 Froyo is now definitively dead. But growth is there for the newer Android versions. Android Marshmallow is the biggest riser. What about the distribution of Android versions?

Each month, Google is well-known how the distribution is with Android versions. Even now the distributiecijfers be made known and this is for the first time in 2017. In the figures of January 2017 we will see the biggest rise for Android 6.0 (and 6.0.1) Marshmallow. Also Android 7.0 and 7.1 Nougat rise and even Android 5.1 Lollipop increases.

Last month had Android 2.2 Froyo still has a share of 0.1 percent. That has now fallen to zero and is permanently 'dead'. Android 2.2 Froyo was almost seven years ago announced by Google. The successor to Android 2.3 Gingerbread was at the end of 2010 was announced, and Google came up with the news that Google Play Services Gingerbread beginning 2017 no longer will support. At this time, the share of this Android version is still 1 percent.

Android Ice Cream Sandwich has a share of 1.1 percent, Jelly Bean (4.1 – 4.3) is represented in the list with a joint 11.6 percent. Android 4.4 kit kat’s share of 22.6 percent. Android 5.0, and 5.1 Lollipop have come together to 33.4 percent share and Marshmallow stands at 29.6%. Android 7.0 Nougat in January 2017, a share of 0.7 percent, an increase of 0.3 percent.
