There is finally some movement in the tablet market. Concludes that market researcher IDC following the figures for the first quarter. Each tablet manufacturer sold more tablets than ever, but Apple is now starting for the first time losing ground.
Android is now by far the most widely used mobile OS in the tablet market. There are 27.8 million Android tablets shipped, although Apple is still the largest tablet vendor with 19.5 million copies in the quarter.
Samsung follows at a greater distance with 8.8 million copies. Asus and Amazon are in third and fourth place. Microsoft shipped 900,000 copies of Microsoft Surface.
Equally remarkable is that Apple now sells more tablets than iPhones.
