Researchers from two U.S. universities have antivirus software for Android scrutinized and have found that leaves a lot to be desired security. In particular, Lookout, one of the most popular virus scanners, is easy to train.
garden Researchers from Northwestern University and North Carolina State University took a total of ten virus under the microscope, including popular software like AVG, Lookout and Dr. Web. They write in their research paper, which was published in March already, but only now has come into the open.
The researchers developed a tool which the virus to the garden trying to lead: DroidChameleon. The antivirus software was vulnerable to relatively simple techniques to avoid, such as re-packaging of software, making the signature change detection.
