Google closed criticism WiFi hole in Android – Macworld

Google closed some critical holes in Android, again including a vulnerability in its media server and a leak in Broadcom chips. Through the latter attackers can potentially gain root via a network packet that creates a memory leak at the kernel level. This hole is according to Google abused in the wild

.

Google has been giving the Stage Fright debacle last year’s example and roll out patches at a fixed interval for devices under its management, in other words: Nexus devices. Furthermore, the patch is already a month ago shared with manufacturers and telcos, so this faster OTA updates deliver for Android users.

The default images are also on the Google Developers page updated with the patched version of Android and receives the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) patches within 48 hours. Google is trying the idea that Android leaks long wild existence – even though average users here are not as threatened by – to deal with this kind of monthly patches
