The Honor 6, one of Honor’s most successful smart phones, although for a while on the market. Now Huawei’s Chinese subsidiary has updated the device to the latest version of Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

The Honor 6 was at his release almost equivalent to high-end devices of the moment, but for a price much lower. For the price of a midsize you got a FullHD-5-inch screen with a powerful octa-core processor under the hood that could be great with devices with more expensive hardware. When the device came out turned the device Android 4.4 KitKat, a version that actually was already quite old.

Now Honor has the problem of an outdated Android version solved by providing the device with Android 6.0 Marshmallow, along with security updates released by Google until February 2016. Android 6.0 Marshmallow adds some useful things to like Doze for improved battery life and the new permissions model for more control over your data. Also unused apps are closed by means of App Standby.

The update now rolling out to devices that do not come from a provider, the so-called “unlocked” phones. So it may take a while for your phone indicates that an update is available. Also, it has not all ready put the update clearly of Honor for the Netherlands, but if it is not it will not be long in coming.
