Turn your Android smartphone into a Linux Desktop – Macworld

Microsoft has already been working on it for a while and try to Continuum for phone to change the Windows smartphone into a real desktop. And with convergence Canonical tries to blur the line between smartphone / tablet and desktop with Convergence. Both have they aim to make desktop applications available for your mobile device

MaruOS is a ROM which is made up of two operating systems. Android 5.1 lollypop and Debian Linux.

The project is still in the beta stage and is currently only on the Google Nexus 5 smartphone. If you want to get started with the system, you will have to flash it on your Nexus device. A Windows installer is included to simplify the flash process. You can sign up for the beta here.
