Google gives four tips for protecting your Android – Android Planet

Google released yesterday made themselves heard during Safer Internet Day. On its own blog, the company gives four tips to improve the security of your Android.

1. Only download apps from Google Play

The first tip that Google is what obvious. Android Planet after all we have been warning for longer so as not to install apps from unknown sources. Then, after all, difficult to verify whether they are free of malware and function properly

New apps appear in the Play Store, are first checked by Google. It looks at different ways or app adheres to the guidelines of Google. If this is not the case, the relevant application will be denied access. Is an app potentially harmful, it will be investigated further by the Android Security Team. This ensures that you as a user is at risk, although it is also important to use your common sense and just go for apps that are often downloaded and properly assessed.



2. Make sure your smartphone is encrypted

Encryption ensures that all data is unreadable on your smartphone if your smartphone is locked. This allows your smartphone remains useless when stolen or lost. To assure yourself that your smartphone is encrypted, go to Settings, select the heading “Security” and to “Encrypt phone” press. This may well slow down your device.

Full data encryption since Android 5.0 Lollipop possible, but only from Android 6.0 Marshmallow manufacturers are actually required to enable encryption. The condition is that a device has a lock screen – smart watches with Android Wear are excluded – and the necessary hardware acceleration for encryption and decryption

3.. Use the lock screen and activate Android Device Manager

Anyone can sometimes lose his phone. More convenient is that you can always find him in Android Device Manager. It is also possible to remotely lock your smartphone, provided you have the lock screen in use. This feature is available for all Android smartphones using Android 2.2 or higher.

As a user, you will only need to activate the feature. You do this by going to Google Settings, press the ‘Security’ and the screen determine the location of the remote device ‘options and’ remote lock and reset to factory settings allow ‘turn. You can manage all your Android devices via the Android Device Manager website.

4. Check app permissions

Smartphones running Android 6.0 Marshmallow, manage permissions of installed applications themselves. To do this, go to Settings & gt; Apps and press an application.
