More than half of Android devices has old browser – Computerworld

Duo Security has analysed three million devices to potential vulnerabilities, especially to well-known problems such as an outdated Flash plugin, or the old browser. Of all devices, including laptops, has about 42 percent of the users using an old browser. Chrome is also, according to the security company, the world’s most popular browser, followed by Internet Explorer.

There was a million Android devices looked and despite the auto-update feature would be 59 percent of the devices is an older version of Chrome to run. This is probably because a large number of devices an outdated version of the OS itself runs, with Chrome no more new versions.

Popular devices are put to the test by attackers and not entirely surprising, is the with Windows devices in terms of up-to-date are also not so good. There used to one in five devices a version of Internet Explorer which is no longer supported.

Other findings of the company were that about a third of the Android devices is not protected with a screen lock and there, apparently, with 20,000 devices had been tampered with. Of course promotes the security company with this kind of research, his own securityproduct and integration with Androids API SafetyNet.
