In 2015, it was apparently still to 3.5 million users. I can imagine that a year later something more, especially after Whatsapp announced that data from being shared with Facebook. But it remains a huge dwarf compared to Whatsapp (800 million?) and Telegram (100 million users). The app is paid (2.99 EUR on Android and iOS), which may be people to scare them off.
Also, I see the unique selling point of Threema is not really more since both Whatsapp as Telegram end-to-end encryption. Or, I now see something about the head?
