Android 5.0 Lollipop were called heads-up notifications introduced. These messages appear on top of each screen and disappear over time. Android 5.1 makes it just a little smarter with a small but very useful change.
Heads up notifications
Imagine, you’re playing a game and gets a Hangouts message inside, then the top of the screen, a message appears. This can be swept to the side or top, the notification is then no longer displayed, even after the game has ended. There is only one way in Android 5.0 in order to ensure that they are, even after playing the game in this example, and which is waiting until it is resolved spontaneously after a few seconds. This can be quite annoying, the heads-up notification nevertheless taking a portion of the screen.
swipe
Android 5.1, this is addressed by implementing a simple but effective change. Notification may still upwards and be swept aside, however, the outcome is slightly different. Skip to swipe over the message will disappear immediately, but later viewing or even in the notification bar. Problem solved!
