Moving from Android to iOS – Computer Total

Tip 01: Services and backup

The Android operating system is very closely linked to the online services of Google. It is hardly possible to use an Android smartphone without not even use the Google services. For example, open the Contacts app and tap the Menu button. Choose Accounts to see which source is used for the Contacts. This link between the phone and your Google account controlled via Settings / Accounts .

If Google there is missing, you can add via Account still the phone link to your online Google data. Is the phone connected, you can use Google Drive for backup. Click Settings / Accounts / Backup and Restore / Backup my data . The backup is performed in the background and includes the apps, settings, calendar, tasks, contacts, documents and much more

Tip 02: Copying Files

Unlike iOS Android has a very open file. Connect your Android smartphone via USB cable to the PC and open your Windows Explorer or the Finder on the Mac, you will see that a large part of all files and folders on the smartphone. As an alternative backup, you can copy these files to the PC, to move them later to your new iPhone.

The most important files are found in the following folders: DCIM (captured images), Pictures (photos and sharing photos) and media (music files). Tip 03:. Contacts

To transfer contacts from Android to iOS follow exactly the reverse path as of iOS to Android. Go to www.google.com/contacts and log in with your data. Next to the text Contacts the Select and select All . You see that all contacts are now marked and selected. Now click on More and select Export . Google now gives you a few choices. Leave the option Selected Contacts unchanged, unless you want to make a selection. Select the export format for vCard format . Now click on Export .

Save the vCard file on the PC, for example in a temporary folder on the Desktop. Go to www.icloud.com and log in with your Apple ID. Select Contacts and click the View menu action : Cog bottom left of the browser window. Select Import vCard . Now select the vCard export from Google and choose Open , wait until all contacts have been read. Thanks to the synchronization of iCloud contacts they now will soon be seen on the iPhone.
