Wear Android works, sort of, with iPhone – Android World

Android Wear is specially designed for wearables and currently only works with Android. An ambitious developer has to by partly for each other messages indicate an iPhone on Android Wear.

Wear Android and iPhone

Although Google or rather indirectly indicated that Android Wear also would work with an iPhone that is not yet the case. Meanwhile, we are almost a year later after the introduction of the wearable operating system and there are still no signs that smart watches with Android Wear work with the iPhone. The well-known developer Mohammad Abu-Garbeyyeh is thus went to work and got it done by iOS notifications to indicate an Android Wear smart watch, other options are not yet available. This use is of course quite limited, but in video below shows that it works anyway.

It uses ANCS ( Apple Notification Center Service) where eg Pebble also uses to accomplish this. This must be an APK installed on the smart watch to activate these features. There is no root or jailbreak required to make this work, but there is need an Android device to initially set the smart watch and install the APK. For now, the Android APK Wear is not yet available, but Mohammad Abu-Garbeyyeh thinks about this open sourcing. The whole would work on all iPhones running on iOS7 or higher.
