Sony starts rolling out Android 6.0 update for Xperia Z2, Z3 and Z3 Compact – GSM Helpdesk Netherlands

Two years old Sony Xperia Z2 and the eighteen year old Sony Xperia Z3 and Sony Xperia Z3 Compact will soon get all three offered an update to Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The generally well-informed Xperia Blog reports that Sony first countries has started rolling out this update.

For Sony Xperia Z2 is this update probably the last update that will receive the device. The Sony Xperia Z2 has recently celebrated its second anniversary. Sony usually keeps its aircraft just over two years up-to-date. This Sony incidentally performs much better than most of its competitors. Sony Xperia Z3 and Sony Xperia Z3 Compact will probably later receive an update to Android N, the new version of Android that will appear later this year. Incidentally, Sony has not yet confirmed this.

Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for the Sony Xperia Z2, Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact not only brings the benefits of Android 6.0 to the devices. Sony uses the update also to improve the functionality of the devices and to solve various Sony known bugs and issues.

More control over privacy

the main new feature in Android 6.0 Marshmallow is the ‘permission manager. This allows users to indicate what system resources an application is allowed to use or not the application. In this way, users have more control over their privacy.

Energy saving

Android 6.0 Marshmallow, the handsets from the Xperia Z family also make energy efficient. The update namely also brings the function “Doze” along with it. This feature optimizes the power consumption at the time of the Sony Xperia Z2, Xperia Z3 or Xperia Z3 Compact are in standby mode.

Availability Update

currently there are no reports came from the Netherlands that users of the Sony Xperia Z2, Xperia Z3 or Xperia Z3 Compact Android 6.0 update Marshmallow already received. Or have already been several reports from other parts of the world. It will probably take several days to weeks before the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update will also be available in the Netherlands.
