It is rare that an app with bad intentions long from the clutches of Google knows the stay. New malware on Android, however, managed to evade a month to the attention of the search giant. The malicious code was spread over a number of apps that all masquerading as popular games existed. The malware was named ‘Viking Horde’, by analogy with the game Viking jump the after-aapte.

At least five apps spread the malware, more than ten thousand victims. The code locked users into a botnet, which makes the smartphone could be used to iron through ad clicks money to carry out DDoS attacks or to make personal data booty.

The malware sends Some users also premium messages, which cost money. If the smartphone in question is rooted, the malware is almost unstoppable off since the program then downloads and installs additional components.

Security Company Check Point, the code found, reports that one of the apps even while was offered as one of the most popular Android apps of the moment.
