BlackBerry will soon release an Android phone. The proprietary operating system became lately a lot out of favor, partly because there were not enough apps available in the app store. Moreover, the company does not get completely; soon there will be an update on its own software.
The name of the new phone is Priv, which the company intends to focus on the privacy and security of the device, says CEO John Chen during the press conference. More details about the new device are not officially announced, but secretly there was recent months a thing or leaked.
There will pictures around that shows that the unit “scrollable” will be. At first sight, the smartphone has an elongated 5.4-inch screen. Whoever the screen shifts up, comes at a classic BlackBerry keyboard. The system is similar to Android and has the same icons for standard apps.
Huge loss
Really nice with the company the way it is not. At the same time it was also announced that the last-quarter net loss was 66 million dollars. Sales of Blackberry in the same period was 490 million euros. Software and services brought 74 million in the drawer, which is 19 percent more than the previous quarter. Shareholders lost 13 cents per share, analysts had expected nine cents.
