Wear support has been added in an update to Google Play.
It is not possible to perform an audio or video call in Skype from the smart watch. An answered call will be continued on the paired phone.
It is in the Android Wear app also possible to respond to chat messages. Here, the user speaks a message, which is converted to text.
It is an IM also possible to place pre-written responses, or to draw a emoji on the screen
