Review General Mobile Android One: successful concept – Android World

The Turkish General Mobile in the Netherlands is not a known brand, but is trying to change that with the launch of the “General Mobile Android One ‘. The main feature of Android phones One is the bare Android version and two years of rapid updates. The unit has recently become available in the Netherlands.

Design

The General Mobile Android One is the first Android One smartphone that will be released in the Netherlands, although it is more expensive than 229 euros other models in emerging markets like India. On the other hand, the General Mobile Android One has better specifications and example can handle Dutch 4G networks. In this review, I watch for the General Mobile Android One against the fierce competition has grown up.

The General Mobile Android One has a plastic case, though it seems frame of aluminum. The neplederen back is insensitive for fingerprints and other dirt, and is fine in your hand. A useful extra is that you can simply disconnect the rear, and the battery is removable. Furthermore you will find a Micro-SD slot and SIM card slot. There is also a dual SIM version for sale, which costs twenty euros more than the normal version.

Micro-USB connector is placed at the bottom. The left side is empty, the top houses the 3.5 mm audio port. On the right you will find the power button and volume buttons, which I think give little feedback for the fine grid. However, it is not disturbing. The phone is available in black and white.

Display and Sound

As more smartphones in this price range the General Mobile Android One features an HD screen that displays 1280 counts by 720 pixels. The screen measures 5 inches and that makes for a ppi of 294, the sharpness is more than enough. The applied IPS technology ensures good viewing angles and the maximum brightness of the display is remarkably high. The color reproduction is less, but not bad.

At the bottom of the phone speaker is placed. Although the two seem, there just comes out the right sound hole. It produced enough sound when watching a YouTube video, but sounds tinny and shrill what.

Software

The distinguishing element of the One Android smartphones is the bare version of Android. The software is the same as Nexus smartphones and provides a minimum of two years of updates. Because it is a clean Android version, which updates are also very fast. This gives an Android One smartphone simultaneously with the Nexus devices monthly security update and we may assume that if Android M September 29 launched the Android One models within weeks of this new version be provided.

About the bare version of Android 5.1.1 Lollipop is little to report exciting and the only included application of General Mobile is not in the way. The app – includes the Material Design – displays information about the phone and customer service in a convenient way

Cameras

The 13-megapixel camera. back you can take decent pictures, all eyes they generally somewhat gray. This is especially noticeable in cloudy weather – and that’s here sometimes. In the dark, putting the phone-based snapshots and helps the little LED flash. Photos are quickly blurred and remain quite dark. The competing Motorola Moto G (2015) has a better camera, that’s obvious.

The 5 megapixel FrontCam is fine for video calls and selfies but here I dare say that the Moto G wins.

Performance and battery life

The General Mobile Android One uses a Snapdragon 410 chipset and 2GB RAM. Add to this the standard version of Android with Lollipop and you have a swift smartphone performing daily tasks without too many problems. Heavier activities such as gaming go fine, but remember that you no Galaxy S6 or LG G4 is in your hands.

The 2500 mAh battery last a day with average use, but must at evening on the charger. Charge your phone heavier than you’ll need all power for supper. So this is somewhat disappointing, giving the possibility to change the battery is not a luxury.
The General Mobile Android One does not support fast charging or charging wirelessly.

One Android battery life

Conclusion

The first Android One smartphone in the Netherlands will cost 229 euros and will compete for example, the Motorola Moto G (2015) and Huawei P8 Lite. That is the General Mobile Android One fine off: although the camera and battery life are disappointing, the phone scores well on other surfaces. The most interesting point is the software that makes the General Mobile Android cheaper Nexus One smartphone. Two years guaranteed, rapid updates to a bare Android version: that is for both Android enthusiast as the normal user a good thing

General Mobile Android. One is with its robust hardware and future-oriented software a good and affordable smartphone, the Android-One concept is successful here
